The Metal School in Denmark - slate tiles for a modern teaching environment

Schmidt Hammer Lassen Architects

The Metal School in Denmark is a modern educational building where function, durability and architectural quality are central.

The project was designed by Schmidt Hammer Lassen Architects , and is characterized by clear lines, good daylight conditions and robust material choices adapted to high daily use.

In the project , Alta Quartzite is used as a floor and wall material in central common areas, corridors, stairs and wet rooms . The slate tiles are supplied in both natural and honed surfaces , carefully adapted to different areas of use: the natural surface provides high slip resistance and a lively expression in zones with high traffic, while the honed surface provides a calmer and more refined feel in areas with demands for precision, cleanliness and detail.

The delivery is carried out by Zurface Denmark , with a focus on quality, accuracy and long service life. Alta Quartzite is particularly well suited for school and educational buildings due to its high wear resistance, low maintenance requirements and a timeless appearance that can withstand changes in use over time.
