Leafstones detached house – modern slate facade in Swedish residential architecture

This detached house in Sweden is a good example of how the Leafstones® facade system with Norwegian slate from Alta Quartzite can be used in modern residential architecture to create a robust, timeless and maintenance-friendly expression. Slate has been chosen as the main material in the facade to give the building weight, durability and a clear material identity.
Leafstones® – Norwegian slate in a modern facade system
The project uses Leafstones® with Alta Quartzite tiles with a naturally split surface , mounted on a ventilated facade with the tested WoodFix® system . The system provides a precise and efficient installation, while the natural structure and roughness of the slate clearly emerges in the facade expression.
The Leafstones system combines traditional Norwegian slate with modern construction techniques and is particularly well suited to Nordic conditions, with large temperature fluctuations, moisture and frost.
Architecture, details and execution
The slate-clad facade gives the home a modern yet timeless expression, where the texture and color of the slate contrast with the other materials. The cut edges and natural surface give the facade depth and life, and emphasize the building's architectural form.
The ventilated structure contributes to good moisture protection and a long lifespan, with minimal need for maintenance over time – an important quality in modern residential projects.
