Bekkjarvik Brygge - cut rectangular facade slate

Jo K Nielsen AS

Bekkjarvik Brygge is an example of how modern design can be integrated with local resources and traditional construction methods, giving the building a strong connection to its geographical area. This approach to material selection and design reflects an awareness of sustainability and the environment, a topic that is becoming increasingly important in today's society.

The facade of Bekkjarvik Brygge is an impressive structure that truly captures the attention of visitors and passersby. It is covered with Alta Quartzite, a natural stone material known for its durability and aesthetic appeal. Alta Quartzite, which is quarried in Northern Norway, has a characteristic texture and color variations that give the building a unique feel.

The combination of Alta Quartzite with other materials, such as wood and glass, creates a harmonious balance between traditional and modern architecture. The roof, which is also covered with Alta Quartzite, contributes to the building's robust appearance while providing excellent protection against the elements.

Slate's natural properties make it resistant to moisture and temperature changes, which is especially important in the varied Norwegian climate. This combination of materials is not only aesthetically pleasing, but also practical, as it ensures long-term durability and minimal maintenance over time.
